Happy National #WrongWayCorriganDay!

In case you don’t know what that means, July 17 is National Wrong Way Corrigan Day. It’s named after Douglas Corrigan, an Irish-American aviator.

On this day in 1938, Corrigan was on a flight from Long Beach, Calif. To New York. He allegedly made a navigational error and arrived in Ireland.

The world may never know if Corrigan intentionally flew to Ireland or not because he passed away on Dec. 9, 1995.

From that day he was nicknamed “Wrong Way.”
