Omarion's father remembers late son as 'lovable'

PONTIAC, MI (WNEM) -

"He was fun. He made you laugh. He did some funny things sometimes."

A heartbreaking day for the biological father of Omarion Humphrey, Jamell Humphrey, as he pays his last respects to his little boy during visitation in Pontiac.

Omarion went missing at Lake Callis Park in Genessee County's Davison Township, only to be found nearly a week later, likely drowned in the water.

Today, was about healing.

"He was very loveable, once you got to know him. And, I'm going to miss him," Humphrey said.

But it wasn't all tears.

Humphrey shared a touching story, about a time his son made a big mess, but they couldn't even be mad.

"I bought some ice cream sandwiches. About two boxes, 24,” Humphrey said. “And he lined them up in the basement, and they all melted. He didn't even want to eat them, he just wanted to line them up. It was funny though."

And it's not only been hard for his dad.

Omarion is one of 15 children, and they've all struggled the past two weeks with the loss.

"One day, we sat around and talked about the fun things we used to do. And the next day we were crying our eyes out,” Humphrey said. “We've been pulling together real strong, trying to everything together for his funeral and make sure he has a good home going."

Visitation will be until 8 p.m., with a private funeral held tomorrow.
