Dead girl's family sues after EMT reportedly won't respond

DETROIT (AP) -

The family of an 8-month-old girl who died after a Detroit emergency medical technician reportedly refused to go to a home where the baby stopped breathing is suing.

The Detroit Free Press reports the family of I'Nayah Wright-Trussel is seeking several million dollars. WDIV-TV reports the Wayne County Circuit Court lawsuit was filed Monday and names the city, the fire department and the fired EMT.

The city says it doesn't comment on pending litigation and will respond in court.

The EMT was told to respond May 30 to the call for help, but she parked her vehicle nearby and reportedly said she wouldn't "be on no scene 10 minutes doing CPR." An ambulance eventually got to the home, but the baby died the next morning.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case.
