Mary Roberts fears a tree will flatten her house every time heavy winds roar in a rural part of Bay County where she lives.

“This is the tree,” Roberts said. “ You can see how high it is, I would say it’s 150 feet up, or something.”

Roberts has lived in this house for 38 years. Besides worry about this tree, she is also concerned about another dead tree at the back of her home will come crashing down.

“Every time there’s a storm, I’m awake all night long, worrying about it,” Roberts said.

The 81-year-old’s savings were exhausted when he husband was ill 20 years ago, he passed away in 1995. Now the grandmother hopes a bonded tree removal company can give he an hand by taking down the trees.

“They can have the wood, you know, because I don’t need the wood or anything,” Roberts said.

Roberts is even considering moving into an assisted living center – something she doesn’t want to do. It wasn’t easy for her to call TV5’s Rescue Squad.

“If somebody could come out, if somebody is out there and hears this lady’s plea for help, I do need some help,” Roberts said.
