Neighborhood overrun by rodents could see relief by the end of week

Posted: Updated:

It’s a neighborhood eyesore. And neighbors say they've had enough of this lot on Annesley Street.

“I have a lot of grandchildren that I don't want to get hurt, there's glass out here a lot,” said Jackie Bland.

But finally something is being done about it....we're getting results following our recent story.

The city has obtained the paperwork necessary to enter the property and clean it up. That could be by the end of this week.

Originally, as we reported, the owner was cited and ordered to do the work. But then he suddenly died leaving this mess angering neighbors.

“I heard he passed on, dear Lord, but I’m glad somebody is doing something about it,” Bland said.

Neighbors we spoke with said the owner of the lot was trying to clean it up before he passed away, so they're happy something is being done about it now.

But the lot was more than just something that made the neighborhood look bad, it also attracted a lot of unwanted guests.

“I kind of barriered my yard,” Bland said. “I got some stuff and I sprayed it all around and I try to keep them out of my yard.”

It won't be long before the rodents will need to find a new place to live, and this neighborhood will look a little nicer.
