Summer sunshine for Mid-Michigan

Posted: Updated:

Another sunny start to a beautiful day here in Mid-Michigan.  High pressure makes itself comfortable for the next few day, bringing good news for those that enjoy the sunshine and summer temperatures. Clear blue skies and unseasonably hot daytime highs climb their way into the upper 80s again, today some of us may top out at 90. It will not be oppressive but there is a touch of humidity outside making it feel just a little sticky out there.  A friendly reminder to stay hydrated and keep the sunscreen on standby keep cool. See the 7-day forecast here.

Mainly clear skies with a few clouds around  are the set up for a quiet and pleasant evening ahead. Overnight lows will run about ten degrees above normal for this time of the year, in the upper 60-degree range. Humidity will drop again overnight so calm and mild.

Tuesday keeps the ball rolling with another day of sunshine and summer heart. Highs will quickly rise into the upper 80s to lower 90s. More humidity also creeps in Tuesday afternoon as more moisture starts to work it's way into the air. Tuesday night will be another night with above normal temperatures in the upper 60s. Tuesday night an area of low pressure and a cold front approach mid-Michigan and a few showers and storms will develop out ahead of the approaching system.  Locally heavy rain is possible with some of the stronger storms. See our interactive radar here.

Wednesday the cold front passes through bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms for us during the day. Wednesday night we will begin to see gradual clearing as more stable air moves in behind the front. Wednesday will also be another hot day with highs climbing into the mid to upper 80s.

We are in for a ‘cool down,' Thursday and Friday after the cold front moves through highs will be in the lower 80s. Seasonable for this time of the year.  We will end the work week with more sunshine and much drier air in place.
