MIDLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Midland County man is dead following a weekend accident.

It happened at around 4:14 p.m. on July 26 on South 10 Mile, just south of Gordonville Road in Midland County’s Lee Township.

Investigators say that 51-year-old John Stark was driving northbound on South 10 Mile when he ran off the right side of the road. He continued down the ditch line for about 285 feet before hitting a driveway embankment and a mailbox.

The vehicle then overturned in a ditch.

Mr. Stark was ejected and was pinned under the vehicle, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Midland County Sheriff’s Deputies believe he was not wearing a seatbelt, and say alcohol was a factor. But investigators are still waiting on toxicology reports for a final determination.
