Three people were hurt after a three motorcycle crash.

It happened Sunday, July 26 at around 1:37 p.m.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department reports that a group of four motorcycles were on W. Blanchard Road when the lead motorcycle slowed down because of rough road conditions.

The next motorcycle in line, driven by 72-year-old Larry Gay of Portland, also slowed down; but the third motorcycle driver, 47-year-old Tammy Gay from St. Johns, didn’t notice the speed change and ended up hitting the motorcycle in front of her.

The fourth motorcycle in line, driven by 77-year-old Larry Bates from Lansing laid his bike down in an effort to avoid running into the motorcycles in front of him.

All three drivers were thrown from their bikes.

Tammy Gay was wearing a helmet and was airlifted to Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland.

Larry Bates was not wearing a helmet and was taken to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Larry Gay was not wearing a helmet, but had only minor injuries and wasn’t hospitalized.

The accident is still under investigation.
