MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

The Midland Fire Department will conduct a hazardous materials training exercise on Thursday.

Residents in the area should not be alarmed.

The exercise is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and takes place at the former 4D building, 426 River Road, the Midland County Emergency Management posted on its Facebook page.

The training focuses on the leak of hydrogen chloride from a high pressure tube trailer. Artificial smoke will be used during the training to simulate the leak, the organization said, adding the smoke is non-toxic.

The training includes several area agencies including Dow Chemical Emergency Response Team, Dow Corning Emergency Response Team, Regional Response Team 31, 51st Civil Support Team, Midland County Central Dispatch Authority and Air Gas USA, LLC.

The training will not impact traffic.
