A 34-year-old man faces charges after authorities say he strangled four dogs in Sanilac County.
The Times Herald of Port Huron reports Joshua Scoon is accused of killing the dogs in June.
Undersheriff Bradley Roff says Scoon had turned himself in for a probation violation and a sergeant was aware of an earlier animal abuse complaint.
Roff says Scoon had 14 dogs and told authorities that he wanted to cut down on the number of animals, but didn't want to have them euthanized. Roff says Scoon worried he wouldn't be able bring them home for burial in Moore Township.
The Associated Press left a message Thursday for Scoon's lawyer.
Scoon is charged with animal torturing and killing. He's due to make his first appearance in trial court on Monday.
