Police: Suspect surrenders, confesses to robbing hotel

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Police say a suspect has surrendered, and confessed to robbing a Mid-Michigan hotel early Thursday morning.

It happened at Four Points by Sheraton in Saginaw Township.

Investigators tell TV5 the suspect came in through the main entrance, went behind the front desk and demanded the clerk to give him money from the safe, police said.

The safe was opened and he took cash. The suspect fled the scene on foot, heading towards Towne Centre Road, police said.

Investigators reviewed the surveillance video, and an officer recognized the suspect. Once the suspect’s family was contacted, police tell us the man turned himself in at around midnight.

The hotel employee was not injured during the incident.
