BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

One Mid-Michigan police department is teaming up with 7-Eleven to provide free Slurpees to good kids.

The initiative is called Operation Chill. It started in Philadelphia as a positive reason for law enforcement officers to interact in the community, according to the Bay City Department of Public Safety.

The initiative has expanded to several cities across the country, including Bay City.

The Bay City Department of Public Safety can reward kids and teenagers with Slurpee coupons if they are caught doing a good deed, the department said.

The coupons are good for a small Slurpee at participating 7-Eleven stores.

Operation Chill started 21 years ago.

If you're child receives one of these coupons take a picture and email it to wnemweb@meredith.com or post it on our Facebook page with a description of the good deed.
