Detroit ranked worst large city to live in by new report

Detroit is the worst city to live in, according to a new study by WalletHub.

The popular site listed the Motor City as the worst large city to live in. The results come from a report that compared data from 62 metropolises across the country.

The report compared the cities on livability, quality of health and education systems, and several other key components.

Detroit came in last in the overall ranking and finished in the bottom half for the top components. Detroit ranked 62 for livability, 50 for education, 58 for health and 59 for local economy and taxes.

The Motor City was at the bottom of almost every metric used in the study.

The report ranked Detroit as one of the worst cities to be a driver. It finished in 58. The city also finished in 58th for lowest percent of adults in excellent or very good health and 56th for lowest participation in physical activities.

Detroit ranked 60th when it came to both worst job markets and lowest household income adjusted by cost of living. Detroit also had the highest violent crime rate.

Detroit was the only Michigan city on the list.

Austin, Texas finished in first overall.
