SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Crime in one infamous violent Mid-Michigan city is down this year compared to 2014.

Saginaw is known to be at the top of America’s most dangerous cities list. From 2003 to 2008 the city was ranked the most violent city in America by the Federal Bureau of Investigation statistics.

Since then the city has stayed towards the top of the list, which is based on the most violent crimes per capita.

Those crimes consist of murder, non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

So far this year the city has had 3 criminal sexual conducts, 55 robberies, 226 felonious assaults, 224 burglaries, 36 stolen vehicles and 3 homicides.

Those numbers are fewer than they were this same time last year.

In 2014 Saginaw had 6 criminal sexual conducts, 69 robberies, 290 felonious assaults, 266 burglaries, 38 stolen vehicles, and 5 homicides.

Overall crime is down 12 percent this year from last year, the Saginaw Police Department said.
