BAY COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Two beaches in Mid-Michigan are closed for full body contact recreational activities.

The samples from Wenona Beach and South Linwood Beach in Bay County have exceeded the state’s water quality standard, the Bay County Health Department said.

The beaches will open when bacteria levels comply with the state’s water standards.

Water samples from the Kawkawlin River also exceeded the state’s water standards for full body contact recreational activities, the department said.

A public health advisory has been issued for the river. The advisory will be lifted when water levels comply with the state’s standards.

The samples were collected on Aug. 3.
