GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WNEM) -

A lottery winner lost out on a million dollars after not claiming the prize in time.

On August 5, 2014, one lucky person bought a $1 million Mega Millions ticket in Grand Rapids, and did not claim it in time.

The ticket was sold at the CVS Pharmacy at 727 28th Street Southeast.  The ticket matched the first five numbers drawn: 25-28-36-45-53.

The prize had to be claimed by 4:45 p.m. Wednesday or it went to the state School Aid Fund. Which is exactly what happened.

That is the first major prize to go unclaimed in 2015. In 2014, five major prizes went unclaimed adding more than $1 million to the Michigan School Aid Fund.

You can watch the Mega Millions drawings at 11 p.m. on WNEM TV5.
