Lowe's employees providing facelift for fieldhouse

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Volunteers fixed up an important piece of a Mid-Michigan community. Employees from Lowe’s spent the day on Tuesday giving Berston Fieldhouse in Flint a facelift.

Part of that work included replacing old bleachers.

“Berston does a great job with softball events on the weekends and we wanted to make sure everyone has a safe place to sit. We're also doing some work on the inside,” Richard Tindall said.

Tindall is the assistant manager at Lowe’s in Flint Township. He said giving back to the community is something the business tries to do often.

“We've got all of our volunteers from Lowe’s giving up their time to help out so it's really a labor of love,” Tindall said.

About two dozen volunteers will spend the next two days working to renovate parts of the fieldhouse. Community members couldn't be happier for all their hard work.

“A lot of the boards were in really bad shape. We have a lot of folks that come down to watch the games so we're really happy Lowe’s chose us to do this project,” said Bryant Nolden, the volunteer director.

Lowe’s employees said it feels good to be able to use their tools and skills to serve the community.

“Always feels good when you finish something and say, 'I contributed to that and my people did something for that community,'” Nolden said.
