Good weather is helping crews make progress restoring power to thousands of Michigan homes and businesses still without electrical service following severe weekend storms.
Consumers Energy says about 19,000 customers lacked service early Wednesday after more than 164,000 of its customers lost power. In Leelanau, Grand Traverse and Ogemaw counties, complete restoration is expected Thursday.
The utility says some crews that wrapped up work in Michigan's southern Lower Peninsula will be working in northern Michigan.
DTE Energy said that as of Tuesday it had restored power to most of its 95,000 customers who lost service.
Violent winds uprooted trees, snapped branches and spoiled the landscape in some of the state's most popular tourist spots. Officials say a tornado was confirmed in Owendale in Huron County.
