BAY COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Water samples collected from the Bay City State Recreation Area have deemed the beach unsafe for full body contact.

The samples were collected on Aug.5 and they exceed the state’s water quality standard for full body contact recreational activities, the Bay County Health Department said in a press release.

The beach is closed until the bacteria levels comply with the state’s standards.

Bird Creek County Park in Huron County is also closed due to bacteria levels in the water.

Another Bay County beach has been reopened after samples were collected on Aug. 5.

South Linwood Beach had been closed due to bacteria levels, but the samples collected on Wednesday complied with the state’s water quality standards, the health department said.

Veteran's Park in Huron County had also been closed, but that beach is now open.
