Mid-Michigan man running for President of the United States

Posted: Updated:

You've heard of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

"I'm running for president. I got a drum to beat. I got an axe to grind."

But there's one presidential candidate you might not know about yet: Genesee County resident Robert Sigsby.

"These forms of government...certain forms of bureaucratic government are not following the Constitution, for the wholesome needs of the people," Sigsby said.

And his effort is legitimate.

Sigsby, a carpenter by trade, has filed with the Federal Election Commission and is listed as an independent candidate for the office of the president of the United States.

"I'm independent. I feel there's too much cronyism," Sigsby said. "I feel it's not so much the money, it's the best idea. And I have a lot of good ideas. We'll weigh it out in the wash."

Admittedly, Sigsby's bid is a long shot.

But he feels he's the best man for the job, and the only way to solve the problems of this country is to become president himself.

"Even if I did get to be the president. It's going to take more than me, it's going to take the 300 million Americans to put this down. To make us have a better government," Sigsby said.

Even though there's never been a president from Genesee County, Sigsby hopes to be the first.
