Trump to host fundraiser in Mid-Michigan after being uninvited to GOP gathering

SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Like him or not, Donald Trump has a way with words, which seem to get people fired up.

Local residents are responding to Trump's latest comments about news anchor Megyn Kelly after she  pressed him at last week's presidential debate about comments he's made about women in the past.

On Sunday morning, he said, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her where ever.”

The remarks are causing a firestorm of controversy.

Trump was even uninvited from the GOP's Redstate Gathering in Atlanta this weekend.

But he's still expected to attend an event here in Mid-Michigan tomorrow.

Supporter, John Milne said he didn't think the comment was offensive.

“Something like a horror movie, others took it a different way,” Milne said.

Milne is a member of the Saginaw County Republican Party's executive committee.

He's excited to have Trump be part of the fundraising event they're having with the Genesee County Republican Group.

“Donald Trump will be the largest fundraiser we've had in decades,” Milne said. “We've had sitting governors of this state who couldn't attract this type of attention.”

A lot of attention and a lot of controversy, Donald Trump is doing well in recent polls, but local residents are skeptical his popularity will make it to Election Day.
