On Aug. 10, Michigan State Police Lt. Thomas Kish announced an increased police presence in light of a string of homicides.

"This just indicates how dangerous certain parts of our city is right now and exactly the reason why we have our directive patrol," Kish said.

In the last two weeks, 22 illegal weapons were seized by police throughout Flint.

"The troopers that are going down there are specifically working in the highest crime areas as supported by data intelligence. We get to know that our folks are going to have the greatest possible potential to impact down there," Kish said.

So far this year, 152 firearms have been taken off the streets in the Vehicle City.
