Car enthusiasts descend on Genesee County

Posted: Updated:

As classic cars rumble through Genesee County, things are revving up on the streets of downtown.

"It's very cool to see this many people down here, especially for a Wednesday night," said local resident, John Gazall.

Car enthusiasts are fueling up while still enjoying the show.

"So much fun, just relaxing and watching the cars go by," said local resident, Ron Bergstrom. "You'll spend a lot of money."

And that means the hot rods aren't the only ones rumbling on the bricks.

"Come Thursday, it'll pick up. Friday and Saturday, it's no room to walk," said Spencer Ruegsegger, general manager at Blackstone’s. "It's really good for all the businesses downtown."

And for some car lovers, it's not just the sights that get their engines revving.

"The smell sometimes, the race fuel. There are certain things about a vehicle that gets a guy excited," said car enthusiast Matt Davis.

But no matter if it's the sights or smells, locals said to expect to see more people cruise on in.

"We're kind of seeing a lot more interest in being downtown and what downtown has to offer," Gazall said.
