Classic car brings back memories for couple

GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

"We've got the 62 Grand Prix over there, the powdered blue one," said Rich Gabriel.

For Rich and Cindy Gabriel, their car is a staple of love. The couple keeps a picture in the car, worth an awful lot more than just a thousand words.

"48 years ago, he took me to the prom in it," Cindy Gabriel said.

As they grow older, they say this car keeps them young.

"62 Grand Prix, Kimberly Blue, and there's not another one like it that I've ever seen," Rich Gabriel said.

And everyone along Saginaw Street has a story of their own this week.

Seeing everyone out here is possibly the coolest part of back to the bricks, of course this is the 11th year that this car show keeps getting bigger and bigger.

And it turned in from being just a Flint thing, to a Flint, Grand Blanc, Burton thing, and it's now it's really a Genesee County thing, State thing, and a nation-wide thing.

"Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, came all the way from Boston, Mass just to see this show," said Eddie Taylor.

Taylor is back to check out his favorites.

"Love all the American cars, the hot rods, love seeing all the old people driving their cars, just enjoying themselves, and have a great time," Taylor said.

He said this week brings back a serious nostalgic feeling.
