Man injured in early morning shooting

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

One man was injured and another was arrested after a shooting in Saginaw.

The incident happened on the 600 block of W. Genesee shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Police responded to the scene after hearing multiple gunshots fired in the area. They found a 27-year-old Saginaw male with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh, police said.

Police also saw a suspect flee the scene. They chased him on foot for about a block before the suspect, a 23-year-old Saginaw man, was taken into custody.

An empty handgun was found on the suspect, police said.

He is lodged at the Saginaw County Jail for assault with intent to murder, among other charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
