Lawmakers take recess after failing to address Michigan roads

LANSING, MI (WNEM) -

State lawmakers have taken a recess after failing to find a way to fund solutions for Michigan's crumbling roads.

And Mid-Michigan drivers aren't happy.

Democrat and state Rep. Charles Brunner said Republicans wanted to find the roads bill with a gas tax increase and spending cuts. But the two parties disagreed on whether to hike taxes on their already cash-strapped constituents.

"The latest plan has some tax increases in there, and there in lies the problem," Brunner said.
