“As soon as I scratched the ticket off, I knew I had a big winner and I got on my knees in my kitchen and thanked God,” a lucky Bay County woman said.

The 51-year-old Michigan Lottery player won $5,000 a week for life from a Cash for Life scratch off ticket.

The woman chose to remain anonymous.

She bought her ticket from the Kroger store in Frankenmuth, the Michigan Lottery said in a press release.

After she scratched off the ticket the woman called her son to tell him the good news.

“We were both so happy we couldn’t stop celebrating,” she said. “I put the dinner I was cooking in the fridge, and we went to my son’s house to share the good news with his wife.”

The woman will receive $260,000 a year for 20 years or life, whichever is greater, the lottery said.

“Winning a Lottery prize this big can really put your mind at ease knowing how much you can do for family. It will let me provide a brighter future for my children and grandchildren, and that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do,” the player said.

The woman plans to retire and spend time with her family.

The scratch off ticket launched in April. There are still two lifetime prizes remaining, as well as millions of dollars in prizes.
