Auto recalls leads to high customer dissatisfaction

Recall Recall

The 2015 American Consumer Satisfaction Index Survey revealed that motorists aren’t exactly jumping for joy.

Customer satisfaction has dropped to its lowest level in in 11 years, mainly due to the high influx of recalls.

Denny Dunfield, the general manager at Al Serra in Grand Blanc, said local dealers are trying to make up for the recalls.

"It gives us a great opportunity to go through the vehicle to make sure that everything else is working just great," Dunfield said.

In 2014, automakers recalled a record 64 million cars and trucks for various problem including exploding air bags and ignition switches.

Rick Bloomridge, who worked for General Motors for 32 years, has a theory for the high volume of recalls.

"I am not sure why they are having so many at this time," Bloomridge said. "If it's got to do with where we are getting our parts from or where we’re getting all the parts from, the U.S. out sourced or however it may be, I think that could be some of it."

Today, the average care costs nearly $33,000, up 11 percent since 2010.
