Shoe drive gets kids started on the right foot

In the shoe department, you don’t find a "one size fits all."

But in Midland on Tuesday, there was a size for everyone.

"Kids deserve to start the year feeling great about themselves," said organizer Kurt Faust.

Kids waited in long lines to get their back to school kicks – for free.

That's what Sneakerpalooza is all about.

And Faust wanted it this way.

"This is taking the edge off the expense of starting the school year, and I love putting kids into new, name brand athletic shoes," Faust said.

Faust spends the summer getting ready for Sneakerpalooza and the community has been on board.

"It amazing to see all these kids here, getting new shoes," said Lindsay Henry, a volunteer.

More than 60 percent of the brand new shoes are donated.

"I love to see their smiles when they get their shoes," said Carolyn Trudgen, a volunteer.

Kids definitely walked away happy tonight and parents say this community help is priceless.

"That's why I love this program, people need it," said mother, Jillian Martinson.
