Superintendent placed on paid leave unanimously by school board, no explanation

ITHACA, MI (WNEM) -

A school district shake-up has left a local community with a series of unanswered questions.

Ithaca Superintendent Nathan Bootz has been placed on paid leave. But an explanation to why the school board voted unanimously to place him on leave remains a mystery.

The only clue residents have is a 2013 investigation into Bootz’s relationship with a female student.

According to the Morning Sun and Gratiot County Herald, Bootz sent Facebook messages to the girl, wishing her a Happy Valentine’s Day and he apparently visited her in her P.E. class.

The small community is both confused and intrigued by the story.

The school board president said it doesn’t have anything to do with the 2013 investigation.
