Trooper struck by vehicle 'great man'

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

It started like any other day.

“These are one of our assigned vehicle program cars in the department, so he starts at home and then goes out on patrol,” said 1st Lt. Mike Shaw.

This morning, Trooper Chad Wolf hopped on his motorcycle and left home to head out on patrol. A short time later tragedy struck, and now he is in critical condition at Genesys Regional Medical Center.

Wolf is married and has four children.

“He's a good man, he's a family man and he loves his kids and his wife,” said Captain Monica Yesh.

We have learned that trooper wolf has been with the motorcycle unit for about two years.

He currently works out of the Michigan State Police post in Taylor, and has been with MSP since 2008

He previously served in Flint and Jackson.

“It's devastating to lose one of your co-workers. He puts his life on the line every single day to provide public safety,” Yesh said.

Those who worked with Wolf said he was aware of that risk, and still put on the uniform every day.

They said he is a great man.

“We're praying for him and our heart goes out to his family because, obviously his wife is very devastated by this,” Yesh said.
