HOLLY, MI (WNEM) -

A trooper and a friend.

Tonight, Chad Wolf is remembered by those close to him as a great trooper, but an even better man.

"He cared about them like brothers, cared about all of us like brothers, and that's just the type of guy he is," said Adam Kern.

Kern was good friends with Wolf.

The 38-year old was very involved with the church, playing on the softball team and being youth pastor.

But he says his biggest passion was being with his family – his wife and four children – and worshiping God.

"Just a great family man, a great friend, a great husband, he's the type of guy you want to be, inspired me to be a better person and will continue to do that," Kern said.

Wolf had been with the State Police since 2008 and was a member of the 121st Trooper Recruit School.

He served in Flint, Jackson, and metro-Detroit. Members at the church said police work was his perfect job.

"His caring for other people more than himself. He was risking his life daily for us, and unfortunately, he lost his life today," said Jim Slayton.

An investigation into Wolf’s death is ongoing. Michigan State Police has asked anyone who may have witnessed the Friday morning crash on I-75, please contact them at 1-855-MICH-TIP.
