FENTON, MI (WNEM) -

Michigan State Trooper Chad Wolf’s funeral was held at 1 p.m. at Fenton High School, with nearly 3,500 people attending.

Wolf, and 8-year veteran, died Friday after his police bike was struck on I-75. He leaves behind a wife and four children. Read condolences to his family here.

Immediately following the funeral service there was a procession to Fairview Cemetery in Linden where a grave site ceremony was held.

A statement has been issued on behalf of his family:

On behalf of Chad’s entire family, we would like to thank the citizens of the state of Michigan and across the country for their support during this tragedy. We would especially like to thank the Michigan State Police Troopers Association for the overwhelming care they have shown all of us. The troopers have provided 24/7 care and attention, as well as meals, housing and transportation. We cannot express in words how much their love and concern has meant to us.

We want to thank all of those who have reached out to us through social media and donations. This has been a difficult time for our family, but knowing we have care and compassion from people around the nation makes this burden a little lighter to bear. Let’s remember not only our family is in pain. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the other family affected by this tragedy.

Our hearts also go out to the families of other recently fallen officers. You are not alone. May we share this burden together.

Thank you.

If you would like to make a donation, they can be made to the Chad H. Wolf Memorial Fund, c/o Sharp Funeral Home, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., P.O. Box 1161, Fenton, MI 48430. See his obituary here.

A GoFundMe page has been started in Wolf's honor. In two days, the page has raised more than $100,000.
