Police: Bicyclist dies after getting struck by vehicle

DAVISON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A bicyclist is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Mid-Michigan Tuesday night.

Bryon Arnold, 28, of Davison, was traveling west on Court Street in Davison Township when he was hit by a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 19-year-old Davison man.

Michael Daniels rides his bike all the time, but he was surprised to hear about the accident that killed Arnold.

"It kind of shocks me that somebody actually got hit," Daniels said.

Arnold was taken to Hurley Medical Center in Flint where he later died.

"I rode down that road multiple times at night," Daniels said. "It is hard to ride because you're riding on very little road and cars are whizzing by you doing 50 mph."

Police are still investigating the accident, but it does not appear Arnold was wearing reflective gear at the time. Which is something Daniels admits he doesn't do either.

"I could have been me," Daniels said.

Alcohol does not believe to be a factor and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time. Authorities said the driver stopped immediately and is cooperating fully with police.
