Online crowdfunding campaign raising money for foster animal vet care

Stephanie Beiser is with the Humane Society of Bay County. She directs its canine foster program.

"Anybody that wants to help out with the animal community here in our county this is big," Beiser said.

Matilda and Jelly are two of the many dogs who can't find a home because of medical issues. Now an online crowdfunding campaign is doing its part to help change that by raising money to pay for veterinary care for foster animals. All done in an effort to give Matilda and Jelly a family to call their own.

"A lot of these dogs if we couldn't get their medical taken care of would not make it out of shelters or otherwise would have to be euthanized," Beiser said.

Beiser said it's important to help dogs like Jelly. To date, about 30 animals in Jelly's situation have already been put down this year.

"It's difficult. There's a lot of dogs that we wish we could help that we can't," Beiser said.

Both Matilda and Jelly suffer from allergies and other issues. Issues that Beiser said with money, can be addressed and clear the way for a long, happy life for both of her four legged pals. Beiser is hoping her goal of seeing Matilda and Jelly get adopted becomes a reality.

"You can't describe the feeling like that. I mean to know that otherwise they would sit unclaimed in a shelter and potentially be euthanized for something that's treatable but the resources aren't there. That's a terrible feeling," Beiser said.
