GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Two people are dead after an overnight traffic crash that closed a portion of I-69.

Troopers from the Flint post with the assistance of several other Genesee County police and fire departments, investigated the fatal crash on westbound I-69 at Nichols Road.  The investigation found that a west-bound Chevrolet Corvette collided with a west-bound Dodge Ram Pickup.  The Dodge left the roadway and overturned.

The four people inside the Dodge were ejected.  A 38-year-old man from Saint Clair died at the scene.  A 17-year-old girl from Saint Clair died later at Hurley Medical Center.

Lack of seat belt use and excessive speed are believed to have been factors.  The crash remains under investigation.
