The hunt for an armed robber ends after officials learn their suspect was already behind bars. Now that suspect has been arraigned.

The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department and the Saginaw and Buena Vista Township Police Departments banded together to help track down a suspect that was considered very dangerous.

Over the last several weeks the armed man, now identified as Gene Henry, allegedly held up a Walmart store in Kochville Township, a Family Dollar store in Saginaw, and a Save-A-Lot store in Buena Vista Township.

But Thursday investigators revealed that Henry was already in jail.

On September 8 Michigan State Police were doing routine patrols in the City of Saginaw when they spotted a license plate violation. Troopers pulled the driver over, but he then took off on foot. The driver was taken into custody after a short chase. He’s been in jail since.

Thanks to a tip on social media, officers then discovered that driver, Henry, was the man they were looking for.

He was arraigned Friday on three counts of armed robbery.
