Semi hauling beer overturns at sharp turn

BAY COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A semi-truck hauling beer has overturned in Bay County while making a turn at E. Fisher and Four Mile Roads.

The semi failed the make the turn, causing the truck to flip on its side, the Bay County Sheriff’s Department said.

The truck was hauling 44,000 pounds of Rolling Rock beer to deliver at Fabiano Brothers.

The driver told TV5 he wanted to avoid construction on Interstate 75 and thought he could make the turn.

John Hopp has been with Mike's Wrecker for 19 years, and he's seen a lot of wrecks.

"You got to wrap everything back up," Hopp said. "Saran wrap it up. We'll load it in the trailer. We got a fork truck coming to reload the product."

Hopp was on duty when another truck had a similar experience at the intersection back in June.

"We're out there for the public," Hopp said. "We're helping the people, taking care of our customers. That's all we do."

Authorities said speed and alcohol weren't factors in the accident.
