Kildee announces plans to expand access to healthy food

Posted: Updated:
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Congressman Dan Kildee is making an effort to create more access to healthy fruits and vegetables for local families.

On Sept. 22 Kildee announced Landmark Food Center, a Flint grocery store, was going to be the first store in Flint to participate in the statewide healthy food incentive program, Double Up Food Bucks. The program increases families' food assistance and increases the market for Michigan produce.

“Expanding Double Up Food Bucks to grocery stores like Landmark is a win for Flint families, local farmers and family-owned businesses,” Kildee said. “Every family, no matter where they live, should have access to affordable fresh fruits and vegetables. That is what Michigan’s successful Double Up Food Bucks program is about."
