GLADWIN COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A school district let out early, and a courthouse forced to close after thousands lose power.

At one point, more than 6,000 Consumers Energy customers in Gladwin County were without power. Despite the power being restored at 12:46 p.m. Gladwin Community Schools let students go home at 1:15 p.m.

The Gladwin County Courthouse was also forced to close its doors today because of the outage.

Consumers Energy reports that the outage was caused by a homeowner in the Gaylord area. Apparently the homeowner cut down a tree on his property and it made contact with two power lines, and locked out three substations.

No one was hurt.
