GRAND BLANC, MI (WNEM) -

On the third day of the pope’s three-city tour of the United States, Catholics in Mid-Michigan were watching history.

"This is fascinating to me that the members of Congress want the pope to speak to them," said Monsignor Jerry Vincke.

Pope Francis spoke to a joint session of Congress today about immigration and the current European refugee crisis. He is the first pontiff to address Congress.

In Grand Blanc, at the Church of the Holy Family, a watch party witness Pope Francis address American lawmakers, in Washington D.C.

Vincke said it's a thrilling moment to witness, and he’s happy to share it with other members of the community.

"It's history in the making and it's an exciting time. It really is exciting," Vincke said.
