Home Depot volunteers 'an answer to our prayers'

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Metal chewing through wood could be heard throughout a quiet neighborhood on Wednesday morning, as more than 75 area-Home Depot associates built a new ramp.

A World War II veteran and his Vietnam War veteran son-in-law live together and use wheelchairs. Because of the efforts of Home Depot volunteers, they'll be able to get out of the house much easier.

The homeowner, Ann Saunders said this entire project is an act of divine intervention.

"An answer to our prayers. We've been trying to figure out how to get a ramp for my husband, my mom for quite some time," Saunders said.

Besides installing the ramp, the crew also did some landscaping and spruced up the exterior lighting.

Home depot volunteers said they loved making this project happen for the family.

"Very, very, very needy and deserving family and it really makes  you feel good to help these people," said volunteer Judy Custer.
