A Mid-Michigan university is on alert amid rumors of possible violent activity happening this weekend.

The President of Saginaw Valley State University sent an e-mail Friday night stating police would be on heightened alert to ensure safety.

A post circulating on social media claims a gang is planning random shootings on campus.

SVSU spokesman J.J. Boehm told TV5 on Sunday that no incidents had been reported during the weekend.

If you see any suspicious activity, contact SVSU police at 989-964-4141.

This is a copy of the email sent out to the school community:

We have added extra patrols and our officers will be on heightened alert to ensure everyone’s safety. If you are aware of any suspicious activity, please call the campus police department at 989-964-4141
