TV5 among award recipients from Crime Prevention Association of Michigan

In a three part series, Law and Order: a matter of trust, TV5 wanted to help bridge the gap between citizens and police in light of the growing tension and the many officer involved shootings across the country.

In part one, the do's and don'ts of being pulled over, officers shared what makes them uneasy and in response citizens shared the same.

On Tuesday, TV5 was recognized during the Crime Prevention Association of Michigan or C-MAP's annual award's ceremony.

As CMAP's community coordinator Ritchie Coleman said preventing crime is a team effort that everyone needs to be involved including the youth.

For example, Logan Davis, a Bay City Central freshman, was recognized for his leadership and his willingness to help his peers stay out of trouble.

"I was shocked and at the same excited," Davis said.

In the spirit of recognizing community efforts, community policing programs with Midland Police and Bay City Public Safety were also recognized.

The message was clear on Tuesday, in order to prevent crime communication is king.

"The networking is absolutely essential, working in a box will not get you anywhere in crime prevention,” Coleman said. "So we teach our members don't reinvent the wheel... share that information."
