Robbery suspects caught within five minutes of dispatch

Posted: Updated:

On Oct. 4, a robbery victim had $2,500 stolen from them at gunpoint.

Saginaw and Michigan State Police responded to the call at 2 a.m. at a store on Janes Street in Saginaw.

The victim provided a description of the 19- and 18-year-old suspects to police. The 19-year-old suspect was chased on foot and apprehended by a Saginaw police officer just a few blocks away from the robbery.

The 18-year-old suspect was chased on foot within a few blocks. Officers were able to locate both the money and the guns used in the robbery, all within five minutes of the victim’s 911 call.

“It needs to be noted that this call was put out at 2 a.m. and the suspects were caught within five minutes of the dispatched time,” said Detective Sgt. Reggie Williams. “These officers showed great team work and patrol savvy during this incident. Not only were they able to retrieve the stolen money, but they were able to get two more guns off the streets within minutes. That’s good police work.”

The incident is still under investigation by Saginaw Police and MSP. Anyone with information is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-JAIL.
