Police: Saginaw is not #4 in the nation for violent crime

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Despite reports to the contrary, Saginaw is not among the most violent cities in America.

Police did a little digging after an FBI report last month allegedly ranked Saginaw at number 4 in the nation.

According to their investigative work, the report does not rank cities or crimes.

"For years, the Saginaw police department and the city of Saginaw has been in this so-called ranking. And we've always had the worst numbers. To now discover these numbers weren't even true, ranking system wasn't even true, I think that's a benefit for us," said Det. Sgt. Reggie Williams.

Saginaw is currently seeing a 10-year low in violent crimes.
