EAST LANSING, MI (AP) -

Army ROTC cadets from Michigan State University and the University of Michigan will run 64 miles from East Lansing to Ann Arbor to deliver official game footballs before this weekend's rivalry game.

The Lansing State Journal reports that this is the second straight year cadets will cover the distance in memory of Alex Powell. Powell grew up in Okemos and enrolled at MSU in fall 2010, nine months before he died of cancer.

They will also raise money for MSU's Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities, the University of Michigan Services for Students with Disabilities and the U of M cancer center.

The relay run starts at 3:30 a.m. Friday and ends at about noon.

The seventh-ranked Spartans play the 12th-ranked Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Big House.
