Residents disappointed in state leaders

SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Noreen Krukowski resides on this stretch of Airport Road in Saginaw County.

"These roads have been horrible. They used to maintain them," Krukowski said. "They'd throw stone and rock every year and tar but they haven't done that in probably 10 or 15 years."

She said the street is in bad shape with potholes and humps making for a bumpy ride.

"We're constantly dipping and bouncing everybody all over the place. So it's bad," Krukowski said.

But as frustrated as residents are about the condition of these roads, they're even more upset that lawmakers in Lansing can't come up with the money to fix them.

"I think we pay our politicians a lot of money for nothing," said Dick Gerzeski.

Gerzeski lives across the street from Krukowski.

He said that if someone takes this road too fast they'll damage their car and he is disappointed our state leaders can't find a way to hammer out a road funding bill.

"How long have they been working on this trying to get some kind of funds for roads? And what have they got now?" Gerzeski said.

Krukowski said she's lost a lot of money on car repairs. She thinks if legislators lived on a road like hers maybe they'd decide to pave the way for a smoother ride.

"Come to an agreement. Do something positive. We want positive results," Krukowski said.
