Bizarre wreck hits eight cars, no one seriously hurt

Amber Loomis works at Central Michigan University's Global Campus.

"Scary. Very scary," Loomis said.

That was the scene of a bizarre wreck Wednesday morning.

Police said Laurie Brownell was driving a GMC Envoy down US-127 when she veered off the road and eventually ended up on top of several vehicles.

"Shock was the reaction. There was very loud noises inside of the building, so it sounded like something dropped really hard on the roof was what people were saying," Loomis said.

Police said the vehicle veered off the road, took out a picnic bench and hit eight vehicles.

Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured.

Brownell was taken to a hospital, but she's expected to be OK.

Loomis said it's a miracle nobody was in the picnic area when the Envoy began its path of destruction.

"Before CMU banned smoking on campus, it was a common place for people to go out and have cigarette breaks," Loomis said. "It's not used for that purpose anymore, but people still like to come out and enjoy the fresh air on their break time."
