"Blue out" planned for teen killed in fiery crash

GRATIOT COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A 16-year-old is dead after a two-car fiery crash, and Friday night her school district is remembering her.

The crash happened Wednesday at 5:17 p.m. on W. Tyler Road east of Luce Road in Gratiot County’s Arcada Township.

Sheriff Doug Wright reports that Hannah Rivard, a junior at Alma High School, was eastbound when her vehicle veered into the westbound lane where it hit a pickup truck driven by 60-year-old Donald Farr.

Deputies report that Rivard’s vehicle burst into flames upon impact, killing the teen. It’s still unclear why her vehicle crossed the center line.

Farr, from Sumner, was flown to Grand Rapids Hospital with serious injuries.

Rivard will be remembered at Alma's football game on Friday night. Everyone is asked to wear blue, her favorite color. There will also be a moment of silence before the game.

The crash remains under investigation.
